Fire Alarm System

This will be a deferred plan submittal. Plans must comply with NFPA 72.

A commercial fire alarm systems are made up of the fire alarms themselves, all the components that make the alarm work, those that feed into the alarm, and those that are set-off by the alarm (fire sprinklers, kitchen hood systems).

Harris County requires an addressable fire alarm system.

After Approval

After approval, you can pay fees online from your ePermits account. Once fees are paid you can download the approved plans and print out a paper copy of the permit. Please post the permit fully visible on project site and have a paper copy of the approved plans onsite during construction.

When the receipt of the fire marshal’s email of approval has been received for the pre-inspection documents to request the fire inspection, complete the inspection request form entering the required information and submit to Fire Inspection Form

HARRIS COUNTY FIRE SPRINKLER PLAN SUBMITTAL CHECKLIST

  • Drawings must be Stamped/Signed/Dated by R.M.E., and Name, Address, Phone Number of Installing Company. A copy of the RME State license
  • Underground Fire Line must be submitted and approved prior to the review of Aboveground Fire Sprinkler systems, see Underground Fire line requirements.
  • Scope of Work.

  • Drawings must be stamped/signed/dated by an A.P.S w/ company name, phone number and Address. Must certify plans meet applicable code and standards. A.P.S. must be registered in the State of Texas and/or Texas Registered Engineer
Scope of work
  • Surge protection per NFPA 70 & 907.6.2.1 “Surge protection shall be provided on all fire alarm related components including but not limited to signal line circuit, notification appliance circuits, telephone lines, A/C power connections and fire alarm circuits extending beyond boundaries of a building to a connecting building”
