Fire Pumps

A fire pump is required for a sprinkler system when the available water source does not have adequate pressure. This is necessary when the system is connected to a non-pressurized water tank or when the water supply from the Local Water Authority has inadequate pressure

After approval, you can pay fees online from your ePermits account.Once fees are paid you can download the approved plans and print out a paper copy of the permit. Please post the permit fully visible on project site and have a paper copy of the approved plans onsite during construction.

HARRIS COUNTY FIREPUMP PLAN SUBMITTAL CHECKLIST

  • Drawings must be Stamped/Signed/Dated by R.M.E., and Name, Address, Phone Number of Installing Company. A copy of the RME State license
  • All Electric Pumps must be accompanied by a 24-month power outage report from the power company with reason and duration of each outage. If the facility is considered by the IFC a critical facility, then standby power is required.
  • All manufacture specification sheets required along with all test documents
  • If taking supply from a main then the Local water Authority must review to see if they will require any break or surge tank and the fire pump must contain a bypass NFPA 20
  • If supply is from a fire water tank, then a bypass isn’t required

When the receipt of the fire marshal’s email of approval has been received for the pre-inspection documents to request the fire inspection, complete the inspection request form entering the required information and submit to Fire Inspection Forms
