Precision Driving Course - New Facility
Harris County does not currently have a precision driving course dedicated for training of Harris County law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement officers and other first-responders need advanced driving skills to safely complete their duties and keep the community safe. This new Precision Driving Course will be used by numerous agencies, including the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office (HCFMO) and Harris County Constable’s Office, Precincts 1-8.
While on duty, most law enforcement officers spend more time in their patrol vehicles than anywhere else. Regrettably, most of the officer-involved accidents, injuries, and fatalities involve vehicles. This Precision Driving Course will provide law enforcement officers with training on various driving techniques for a multitude of scenarios, to include pursuits, felony stops, and adverse weather conditions.
This Course will feature a road skid test section, a simulated urban street driving section, and a precision driving track. Classroom and support facilities will also be included to facilitate training.
