Training Academy – Expansion

This project will expand the current Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office (HCFMO) Training Academy by adding 15,000 square feet of training space.

The current facility is comprised of eight total classrooms, with two assigned to the HCFMO. Since 2018, the HCSO has hosted simultaneous Basic Peace Officer Courses (BPOC), Jail Schools, and Patrol Training Classes, which ties up three of the classrooms for multiple weeks. The academy expansion project will allow for dual BPOCs, and other essential training courses, to be held simultaneously.

By expanding this facility, Harris County will be able to offer more training courses to first-responder agencies throughout the Harris County region.
