Public Information Request

According to the TPIA, if the governmental body has the information, it must promptly make it available to the public. Promptly means as soon as possible under the circumstances, that is, within a reasonable time, without delay.

We ask that either way you submit the request, we are allowed at least ten business days to respond and adequately do a diligent search.

If a governmental body wishes to withhold the information from public disclosure, we must ask the Office of the Attorney General for a decision. The Public Information Officer will notify the requestor that the request was sent to the OAG for a decision.

Typically, there is no fee for electronic records. Still, the charges for your public information request may vary depending on the number of responsive documents and personnel time required to process your request.

For more information on allowable charges, please see the Texas Attorney General's website at www.oag.state.tx.us.

If you submitted your request through the GovQA link, you could log into your “My Records Center” in GovQA and check the progress and status of your request.
