Office of the County Engineer

The Disaster Recovery Division (DRD) is activated under the direction of the County Engineer. Primarily staffed by personnel from the Office of the County Engineer, the DRD may also include representatives from other Harris County entities. After the disaster response phase, the DRD spearheads Harris County's recovery efforts, including public and private damage assessments, county facility repairs, debris management operations, and call center support. For most Harris County employees, participation in the DRD is a secondary duty; however, the team is trained and equipped for rapid response.
