The Environmental Services Group ensures that the Office of the County Engineer (OCE) projects minimize negative environmental impacts and follow state and federal environmental regulations. We diligently track changes to environmental regulations impacting Harris County's projects and work collaboratively with federal, state, and local agencies as well as OCE colleagues, precincts, consultants, contractors, and the public to ensure that best practices are followed. Our duties include things like assessing and minimizing project impacts, securing permits, overseeing consultants, conducting field work, and commissioners court actions.
