The Design Support Team, the largest group within Design Services, plays a crucial role in providing technical support and ensuring the efficiency of engineering design projects across Harris County. The team's key responsibilities include: 

1. On-Call Construction Contracts: Bid and renew contracts for each precinct and countrywide, covering maintenance, materials, repairs and other construction activities.
2. CAD Support: Supporting the Technical Services Division with CAD troubleshooting, software support, and providing training for the Engineering Department as needed.
3. Standards Renewal: Leading the renewal and management of Harris County's Standards and Specifications Program to ensure compliance and up-to-date practices.
4. In-House Design: Developing construction plan sets for road, storm drainage, and bridge projects.
5. Consultant Management: Overseeing CIP projects in collaboration with external consultants.

The mission of the Design Support Group is to provide technical assistance to ensure project designs are cost-effective, efficient, and meet Harris County's required specifications and standards. The group working closely with all stakeholders, and focuses on solving problems, troubleshooting issues, and improving the quality of final deliverables.
